Just two short years ago, the East Midlands saw the launch of what has become a multi-award winning recruitment consultancy, RecruitME. Howard Rudder, former member of the Warfare Branch in the Royal Navy, and Chris Buck, ex-Royal Logistic Corps Army veteran, combined an essential blend of gumption and sentiment to nurture entrepreneurial spirit amongst their employees. Utilising an X-Forces Start Up Loan, the likeminded business partners have ambitious plans for the future.
Initially stationed at a humble office in Grantham town centre, the team have recently made an exciting move to a larger site which will enable their intended growth. Howard, one of the new X-Forces Ambassadors for the East Midlands and panellist at the X-Forces 4th Anniversary event this October, described the relocation as a big but exhilarating challenge that has been embraced by the entire organisation.
As new Ambassadors for X-Forces, Howard and RecruitMe’s co-founder Chris have worked closely with Ren Kapur MBE, X-Forces CEO and Martin Wing, X-Forces COO to allow their business to flourish. Howard said, “It’s been great to use Ren and Martin as sounding boards in the process and to have a group of good-humoured people at X-Forces backing us.”
The firm, based in the East Midlands, offers multi sector recruitment from a small but incredibly experienced team. Their team of three people is now up to seven with office space for eighteen, and potentially forty-four down the line!
Along with a change of location, Howard and Chris have continued to invest in the team, offering state-of-the-art technology and developing an innovative training programme for Trainee Consultants. Chris noted the importance of selecting high quality talent to join the business, but is delighted that the RecruitME family now comprises of seven strong-minded, intelligent, yet wildly different individuals. A group of people that work together cohesively towards a common goal, creating a positive working atmosphere, and supporting each other to combine individual strengths to enhance performance.
Jade, one of RecruitME’s most recent recruits, said, “we are all about inclusion, embracing individuality and celebrating difference. Each member of our team is so different, yet so valuable”. Her colleague Adam agreed stating that, “going to work is just like visiting friends, rich with positivity and very inspirational”.
Jessica Roberts, military spouse Recruitment Consultant has joined the team from the U.S. Jessica says she is enamoured by RecruitME’s determination to contribute to the Forces comradeship. Howard and Chris are delighted to welcome her to the business as all connections to the military lay close to their hearts.
Chris and Howard’s connection to the military means a lot to them, and although their recruitment reach is usually in the East Midlands, they recruit nationally for military personal and their families. Their location in Grantham is right in the middle of a large military community and are working with the University of Lincoln to develop their work the Armed Forces community.
In November 2016 RecruitME received the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award. They are looking forward to being a part of X-Forces’ Big Business Supporting Small Business campaign down the line as the East Midlands Ambassadors and will continue to be supported by the X-Forces team.
To aspiring entrepreneurs and veterans, Howard and Chris encourage you to research your market, get funding to start up, and really make use your network. You’d be overwhelmed at how much people are willing to help if you ask.
