Local Small Business Week: Women in Business

To mark day two of local small business week, we are celebrating the outstanding contribution of Women in Business. Whether it is setting up businesses which are still predominately run by women such as beauty salons or nurseries, or turning hobbies into fully-fledged businesses, women make an invaluable contribution to small businesses.

Local small businesses not only provide vital services, they also provide an opportunity for local residents to meet each other and build a true sense of community spirit. This is of even greater importance for military families who may constantly be relocating. Military Spouse, Natalie Trezise recognised this key role which local small businesses play for Armed Forces communities and set up ‘Your Home Patch’ which provides information on local services.

The valuable contribution provided by local businesses that also serve as a community hub for conversation and engagement was also recognised by ex-Wren Elizabeth who set up ‘Thistle Me This’, a holistic therapies and organic products business for which she has received great reviews from her local community:
