Strong Support Network The Key To Success For Armed Forces Community

FSB-XFE 1 year relationship

It is exactly one year since X-Forces Enterprise and Federation of Small Businesses joined forces to offer an exclusive discount to business owners from the armed forces community.

XFE and FSB have collaborated extensively over the last few years, beginning with an insightful report into the business landscape for service leavers: A Force For Business, and more recently bringing about one of the recommendations from that report; a huge policy change in securing an employer NIC holiday for recruiting veterans.

As proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, and with XFE attaining the Gold Award within the Employer Recognition Scheme, both organisations have made a commitment to recognising the value that service leavers, serving reservists, veterans and military families bring to the UK small business community; FSB members and XFE beneficiaries alike.

X-Forces Enterprise CEO and Founder, Ren Kapur MBE, looks to the future of the economy and SME landscape:

The pandemic presented seemingly endless challenges for so many SME businesses within the community and highlighted how crucial it is to ensure you act on the right information and have a formidable support network around you. It is so important for SMEs to have a strong business support infrastructure, and as our businesses have grown and adapted over the last 15 months, the knowledge and support from FSB has been unparalleled, to ensure those businesses who are growing, had a strong support system around them.

There is so much uncertain terrain that we must still traverse; what would that look like for those businesses who have employees? Although we are all very hopeful this is going to be a smooth journey easing out of lockdown, no one really knows how it will ebb and flow. To know that we have a responsive organisation in FSB that our Military in Business® Network can lean on fills me with great confidence and gives me great pride to continue to represent the Military community as the National Armed Forces Champion for FSB.

FSB’s Director of Sales, Kevin Hall looks forward to continuing its relationship with XFE in support of the Armed Forces community:

“As proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant and in line with our unique collaboration with XFE, FSB have an ongoing responsibility to provide business support for the Armed Forces community. In many cases this support has proved a vital lifeline for many businesses who have had to navigate through the host of challenges that the pandemic has brought upon them.

“Notwithstanding the major win brought about by XFE and FSB’s lobbying on the NIC holiday for recruiting veterans, both organisations continue to work tirelessly to ensure all SMEs in this sector are fully supported with guidance on business, employment and legal matters as well as providing information on access to financial support through the various government schemes available.

“It is difficult to predict what might happen over the course of the next year, hopefully we will see businesses returning back to normal operating temperature soon. FSB is proud to have been appointed as a strategic partner to XFE, the relationship just works. We have many existing members who are from a military background and we look forward to continuing our support for the Armed Forces Community in the future.”

FSB member and regular Military in Business® networking attendee, Richard Weatherburn of 313 Wealth Management, had this to say:

“Attending the XFE networking events really gives me that supportive feeling, working alongside other military personnel in the business world helps to keep the camaraderie alive. Then, knowing that we have FSB to rely on for all our business needs, gives me confidence to grow my business even further.”
